My Halloween Costume Crisis....

So my daugher announced the other day that she wanted to go pick out her Halloween costume.  My first issue is that I am NOT handy in any way when it comes to manufacturing Halloween costumes. I can't sew, can't measure and can't be trusted with either scissors or glue.  However I thought "No biggie- the Halloween stores are open and everyone has costumes out right now."

My second issue is that my 11 year old daughter is 5'3" and doesn't want to wear little kid stuff anymore.  However I thought...again... "No problem- she can wear adult size costumes"

R-i-g-h-t!!!! Apparently when the manufacturers got around to making the women's costumes (after making all the men's costumes first) there was a significant shortage of material.  Either that or only porn stars are expected to go to Halloween parties this year.

Think I am kidding??? Check out this little tidbit from Buzz Feed

Maybe my daughter can go as a mummy this year....I do have a lot of toilet paper on hand

I would have sworn they would have lasted- Deb's Dishin Hollywood Dirt

It's no surprise that many marriages crash and burn in Hollywood, but this one totally caught me by surprise.  Danny Devito and Rhea Perlman announced their separation today.  They married back in 1982 and seemed like they would last forever.  It is a pitty.  TMZ has the full story

I may be on a diet and all but it will come to an end....eventually.... and there is NO WAY I want to live in a world with out these foods.  Check out the story below and see what else besides bacon could be on the way out.  (WARNING if you have a hard time facing mornings, one of these just might make scream!)

Bacon and Chocolate and Coffee...OH MY!

Time to get your Halloween decorating ON!

I am SOOOOOOOOO not artistic but these are some really fun ideas for Halloween decorating that even I can do.  I liked the glitter pumpkins and the blinged out pumpkins.

Seriously, did you really think I would fall for THAT!!??

So has this ever happened to you???

My cell phone rang last night right before dinner.  The display on the screen told me the caller was “Unknown”

Me:  Hello this is Deborah how may I help you

Computer on the other end of the phone: For security reasons, your MasterCard has been deactivated, to reactivate this number please press 1

Me: CLICK!!!!

Obviously this was a fishing scam by someone to get my credit card number.  Though, I never pressed one and cannot definitively say what would have happened, I assume if I had gone through with it, I would have been asked to enter my account number and bingo-bango it would be open season on my credit rating and credit card.

I did call the company I have a Master Card with a verified that there was nothing wrong with the account and for good measure had them issue me a new card with a new number- just in case some DID have my number.

Long story short…NEVER give your account number out to anyone who calls you- especially if the caller is completely unidentifiable. If it seems legit, just tell them you will call the customer service number you have on file and the caller should be fine with that.  Don’t call a number someone has given you or follow an email link that has been sent to you.  These scammers have become very tech savy and spotting fakes has become tricky.  Just a little tip from Deb

Way to go North Dakota

As an avid animal lover, I have never been able to understand why:

A:  People do some of the absolutely horrible things they do to animals

B: Animal Cruelty laws are so ineffectual

Recently I have seen some signs that have given me hope that I am not alone in this.  If Measure 5 passes in North Dakota this year, they will go from one of the states with the weakest laws in regards to animal cruelty to one of the strongest

Check out the details on Measure 5 here

Now, lets follow ND's lead and see what can we do to improve IL animal cruelty laws!

Another child actor goes *boink*- Deb's Dishin' Hollywood Dirt

As if Amanda Bynes isn't in enough trouble.  She's been accused of 2 hit and runs, had her drivers license suspended, been busted for driving anyway and now TMZ has made her their target du jour.  They have been following her around taking pictures of her getting stoned and driving (without the license)  Get this girl some help now!

It's Peanut-Butter-A-Riffic!

I absolutely love to cook when I have the time.  So I am always on the look out for a great looking and sounding recipe.  This one just jumped to the top of my list of new desserts to try!

Peanut Butter Pie

For the crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups Oreo cookie crumbs, finely crushed
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the filling:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 2 tablespoons half-n-half
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

For the topping:

  • Mini peanut butter cups (candy)

from magnoliadays.com

For the crust:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

In a medium bowl, mix together the cookie crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. Press onto the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Bake for 8 minutes. Remove crust from oven and cool completely on a wire rack.

For the filling:

In a large bowl, add the cream cheese and peanut butter. Using an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese and peanut butter until combined and smooth. Add the sugar and beat until fluffy, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Add the half-n-half and vanilla and beat until combined and the mixture is smooth.

In a separate medium bowl, beat the whipping cream until you have soft peaks. Use a rubber spatula to fold the whipped cream into the peanut butter mixture until just combined.

Pour the filling into the prepared crust, spread it out evenly, and smooth the top. Cover loosely and refrigerate for about 4 hours or until firm. Decorate the top with the mini peanut butter cups. Serve and enjoy! Refrigerate leftovers.

A Christmas Story 2

I have said it before and I will say it again- there are NO original ideas in Hollywood.  While the first movie was cute and entertaining in a sappy holiday way, could some one please explain to me WHY a sequel was necessary

Get all the gory details of A Christmas Story 2 here or just buy your own copy when it is released Oct 30th.
