  All Day Holiday Book Drive   The 4th annual Holiday Book Drive will take place during the month of November. New books for children (ages birth to age 12) are being collected and will be distributed at Christmas time to needy children in the area, You can help by dropping off new books at one of the following sites: Chatham Area Public Library, Chatham Presbyterian Church, Rochester High School, Rochester Elementary (2-3 building), Williamsville Library, Williamsville Methodist Church, Sherman Elementary, Trinity Lutheran Preschool Auburn, State Journal Register, Safe School Program (Capital Career Center), or Bridge Club of Springfield. Checks may be made out to Holiday Book Drive and sent to Bank & Trust P.O. Box 228 Chatham, IL 62629. Every dollar donated will go directly to the purchase of new books.
  All Day Festival of Trees   Each year, hundreds of talented local designers and volunteers transform the Orr Building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield into a winter wonderland of exquisitely decorated showcases, trees, wreaths and swags.This holiday extravaganza is open daily during the week of Thanksgiving. With annual attendance of approximately 30,000, the Festival offers a fun-filled kaleidoscope of holiday sights, sounds and scents you won't forget.Admission: Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children ages 3-12. Children 2 and under are free. Seniors age 65 and over will receive a reduced admission price of $3.00 on Senior Day, Tuesday, November 26 only. 10am to 5pm Sundays, Noon to 4 Thanksgiving Day, 10am to 8pm all other days
  All Day Children's Holiday Store   The 24th Children's Holiday Store is the biggest funraiser for the Mini O'Beirne Crisis Nursery. At the store children shop with the help of a volunteer while parents wait in the lobby. Gifts range from $1 to $10 so there is plenty of variety. Once they have found the "perfect" gift, children, bag and tag each gift with their volunteer before leaving the store. Open Saturday, Nov. 30 through Dec. 23. Location: Town & Country Shopping Center (between Chuck E Cheese and Tuesday Morning in the former Designer Chic store). The Children's Holiday Store Hours: Monday–Friday ….....4-8 p.m. Saturdays ……………10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Sundays ………...…..noon-5 p.m.
  All Day COAT DRIVE   During the months of December and January, the Rochester Public Library will be holding their annual Coat Drive. Accepted articles for the collection will be new or gently used coats, both children and adults), hats, scarves, and gloves. Donations are being accepted at Rochester Public Library through the end of January at #1 Community Drive, in Rochester. For further information please contact Susan at (217) 498-8454.
  10:00AM 3:30PM Model Railroad Swap Meet   The Sangamon Central Railroad Club and the Sangamon County Fair Association invite the public to a Model Railroad Swamp Meet at the County Fairgrounds in New Berlin, Illinois on Sunday, Dec.1 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 pm.m. There is a $3 donation to see the items for swap and sale. Children under 12 are free. The purpose of the swap meet is to encourage people to get into the hobby of model railroading and train collecting.   12:00PM 6:00PM Jingle Jam V for St. Jude   Jingle Jam returns for its fifth year, marking the eighth year Friends and Fans for St. Jude has been bringing together Central Illinois' finest musicians in support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This popular family event culminates all of our activities from throughout the year. Jingle Jam V features live entertainment, themed baskets, autographed "Countryfied Guitar of Hope" drawing, children activities, holiday merchandise, grab bags, food and beverages, and more! Activities include an appearance by Scooby-Doo and the original Mystery Machine, children craft tables, the Wheel of Hope ($1 per spin), photos with Santa, cupcake decorating, and more!   4:00PM n/a Advent Concert   The Blessed Sacrament choirs will present an Advent Concert on Sunday, Dec. 1, 4 p.m. The concert will include all of the Blessed Sacrament choirs, Seraphim (a professional woman's ensemble) and many singers from the community. The orchestra will include several from the Springfield symphony. Our featured Oratoria this year will be the Vivaldi "Magnificat."
